The upcoming postseason run of the Detroit Tigers in 2024 will remain unaffected; however, the television arrangements for the 2025 Tigers may undergo changes. During a status conference held on Wednesday in federal bankruptcy court, Diamond Sports Group, the parent organization of Bally Sports that broadcasts the Tigers' games in Detroit, announced its intention to maintain a broadcasting partnership with a single Major League Baseball team, specifically the Atlanta Braves.

Diamond has terminated its contract with two of the eight teams it is currently in negotiations with, specifically the Tigers and the Tampa Bay Rays. These teams will now need to either renegotiate a new agreement or seek an alternative broadcasting partner, as reported by Evan Drellich of The Athletic. The remaining teams were not affected by this decision today and are still in discussions with Diamond, according to the same report. Furthermore, Major League Baseball was reportedly unaware of this development and is actively contesting the matter in court. It remains uncertain whether Diamond will be able to discontinue its other broadcasting agreements. In August, Diamond secured a new contract to broadcast the Detroit Red Wings and Detroit Pistons for the 2024-25 seasons. Prior to Wednesday's events, the Tigers were already under contract for their broadcasts on Bally Sports Detroit through 2025, a situation that may now be in jeopardy.

The Tigers' broadcasting team, led by play-by-play announcer Jason Benetti, is expected to remain unaffected as their contracts are directly with the team. A carriage dispute resulted in the network being removed from Xfinity cable packages for three months during the 2024 MLB season; however, a resolution was reached with Xfinity (a subsidiary of Comcast) at the end of July. Consequently, the Tigers resumed broadcasting on Xfinity in August, coinciding with an exciting playoff campaign.
