Despite a remarkable performance by Chicago rookie Angel Reese, who achieved her 10th consecutive double-double, setting a new WNBA single-season record with 10 points and 16 rebounds. Reese struggled with her shooting, making only 4 out of 16 attempts from the field and 2 out of 4 free throws. She managed to reach 10 points after making the second of two free throws with 23 seconds left in the game.

"Regardless of her performance, she will always bring her best to the game. She's a confident and hardworking player who gives her all," commented Sky coach Teresa Weatherspoon. "She holds herself to high standards and I am proud of her determination and effort."

Chennedy Carter recorded 15 points for Chicago. Lindsay Allen hit three 3-pointers and scored 13 points, while also contributing 7 assists and 6 rebounds. Marina Mabrey scored 11 points on 4-of-17 shooting. The Lynx were behind 51-42 after a jumper by Carter with 2:58 remaining in the third quarter, but managed to reduce the deficit to five by the end of the period thanks to a long buzzer-beater jumper by Collier.

Courtney Williams' three-point play gave the Lynx a 61-59 lead with 3:14 remaining. Following that, McBride made four consecutive free throws, allowing Minnesota to maintain a two-possession advantage in the final two minutes. The Lynx limited the Sky to a 30.5% shooting percentage from the field, a significant improvement after allowing the last-place Wings to shoot 48.7%, make 9 of 15 three-pointers, and score the most points against them this season. Reese was chosen by Chicago with the seventh overall pick in the draft, a position that Minnesota had traded down from.

Chicago's home record dropped to 3-7, while Minnesota is scheduled to play in New York on Tuesday. On the other hand, Chicago will be traveling to face the Atlanta Dream on the same day.
