We've reached the halfway mark of the 89th Masters, and many golfers were racing to secure their spots for the weekend at Augusta National. Unfortunately, Brooks Koepka was among those who fell short. After making an eagle on the 15th hole, he brought his score to even par for the day, appearing to be in a good position to make the cut. However, a bogey on 17 followed by a quadruple bogey on 18 sent him plummeting to 5-over, well below the cut line, resulting in an early exit. Several other prominent players also missed the cut, including Dustin Johnson, Phil Mickelson, Sergio Garcia, and Adam Scott. Bernhard Langer narrowly missed the cut in what was his 41st and final appearance at the Masters.
No amateurs advanced to the weekend, with San Diego State University senior Justin Hastings leading the group at 4-over. The cut line was set at 2-under, allowing the top 50 golfers and those tied to continue competing for the coveted green jacket.
Justin Rose followed up his impressive 7-under 65 from Thursday with a solid 1-under 71 on Friday, maintaining his lead, though it shrank from three strokes to just one as Bryson DeChambeau's 4-under 68 propelled him into second place. Rory McIlroy also made a strong push to reach 6-under, putting him just two shots behind alongside Corey Conners.
