No. 6 Ole Miss Crushes Furman 76-0 in Dominant Display

Oxford, MS — The No. 6 Ole Miss Rebels left no doubt about their superiority on Saturday, steamrolling Furman 76-0 in a lopsided affair at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. The Rebels were firing on all cylinders from the outset, delivering a comprehensive performance that showcased their offensive firepower and defensive prowess.

Jaxson Dart’s Career Day

Quarterback Jaxson Dart led the Rebels with an outstanding performance, completing 22 of 27 passes for 418 yards and five touchdowns. Dart was nearly flawless, picking apart Furman’s defense with ease and spreading the ball to multiple receivers. His pinpoint accuracy and command of the offense set the tone for Ole Miss' dominant showing.

Dart connected with Tre Harris for two of his five touchdown passes, including a 60-yard bomb in the first quarter that put the Rebels up 21-0. Harris, who finished the game with eight receptions for 179 yards and two touchdowns, was Dart’s favorite target, consistently creating separation and making big plays downfield.

Matt Jones Shines in the Run Game

Running back Matt Jones made the most of his limited touches, rushing three times for 68 yards and two touchdowns. Jones displayed his explosiveness, breaking off a 40-yard touchdown run in the second quarter to extend Ole Miss’ lead to 42-0. He added another score in the third quarter, capping off a dominant day for the Rebels' ground attack.

Defense Smothers Furman

While Ole Miss’ offense was lighting up the scoreboard, the defense was equally dominant, shutting down Furman at every turn. Linebacker Chris Paul Jr. led the charge with eight total tackles, helping to stifle any attempt by Furman to gain momentum. The Rebels' defense was relentless, holding Furman to just 147 total yards and forcing two turnovers.

Furman struggled to find any rhythm against Ole Miss’ swarming defense, and the Paladins’ offense never came close to threatening the end zone. The Rebels' defensive line consistently pressured Furman’s quarterback, leading to hurried throws and missed opportunities.

Looking Ahead

The 76-0 victory moves Ole Miss to 1-0 on the season and solidifies their standing as one of the top teams in the nation. The Rebels’ dominant performance on both sides of the ball sent a clear message that they are serious contenders in the SEC and beyond.
