The Dallas Cowboys are set to conduct an interview with offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer as part of their coaching search.

The Dallas Cowboys may not need to search extensively for their next head coach. Following the team's recent separation from head coach Mike McCarthy, and amidst ongoing speculation regarding Colorado Buffaloes head football coach Deion Sanders, various reports suggest that Dallas is likely to interview offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer for the head coaching position. At 51 years of age, Schottenheimer is regarded as "well-respected" within the organization and has served as an offensive coordinator for five different teams, including the Jets, Rams, Georgia Bulldogs, Seahawks, and Cowboys, since 2006. He has been the offensive coordinator for the Cowboys for the past two years, having previously worked as an offensive analyst for the team during the 2022 season.

Schottenheimer did not serve as the offensive play-caller during the last two seasons. Following the departure of former offensive coordinator Kellen Moore to the Eagles, McCarthy, the head coach, assumed those responsibilities in 2023. In Schottenheimer's inaugural season as the Cowboys' offensive coordinator, the team achieved the highest scoring offense in the NFL, concluding the season with a record of 12-5 and securing the NFC East division title. However, in the subsequent year, Dallas ranked 21st in the league for points per game, finishing with a 7-10 record and failing to qualify for the playoffs.
