The Jets have reached an agreement with cornerback Michael Carter II for a new three-year contract extension. As reported by NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the deal is valued at $30.75 million, featuring $19 million in guaranteed money and an additional $3 million available through incentives.

The 2024-25 season was anticipated to be pivotal for cornerbacks, yet New York is taking proactive measures to secure a vital component of their defensive lineup. After the Jets selected the Duke University alumnus in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL Draft, Carter II has proven to be an essential part of the team's defensive strategy. Over his first two seasons, the 25-year-old accumulated a total of 135 tackles (95 of which were solo), alongside one sack, two fumble recoveries, and two interceptions. In the most recent season, he recorded 50 tackles (37 solo) and forced a fumble across 15 games.
