The USL Super League, a first-division women's professional soccer league, has announced the dates and format for its inaugural playoffs, set to take place in June 2025. The playoffs will feature the league's top eight teams competing for the championship title.
Playoff Structure and Dates
The postseason will commence with four single-elimination semifinal matches during the weekend of June 7, 2025. The matchups will be determined by the teams' regular-season standings, with the No. 1 seed facing the No. 4 seed, and the No. 2 seed playing against the No. 3 seed. Higher-seeded teams will host these games.
Following the semifinals, the championship match is scheduled for the weekend of June 14, 2025. This final game will determine the league's inaugural champion.
League Background
Launched in August 2024, the USL Super League operates on a fall-to-spring calendar, aligning with most European soccer leagues. This schedule contrasts with the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL), which follows a traditional American soccer calendar from March to November. As the league nears the end of its inaugural season, teams such as Carolina Ascent FC, Brooklyn FC, Fort Lauderdale United FC, and Dallas Trinity FC have emerged as strong contenders, occupying the top positions in the standings. Carolina Ascent FC currently leads the league, holding a one-point advantage over Brooklyn FC.
Playoff Regulations
All playoff matches will adhere to FIFA rules. If a game ends in a draw after regulation time, extra time will be played, followed by penalty kicks if necessary to determine the winner.
